Before Breeding Consider...

ONLY THE BEST DOGS SHOULD BE USED FOR BREEDING - DOGS WITH GOOD PEDIGREES, EXCELLENT HEALTH, CORRECT CONSTRUCTION AND (MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL) OUTSTANDING TEMPERAMENTS. BREEDING WILL NOT HELP A DOG SETTLE DOWN OR BECOME MORE MELLOW - IT WILL ONLY PRODUCE ANOTHER GENERATION OF HYPERACTIVE OR OVERLY AGGRESSIVE DOGS!

Please remember :

Raising a litter takes an enormous amount of time and effort to do properly.

Its can be very expensive - mothers can get sick and/or die. Complications are not uncommon. Food and health care can be expensive. So is advertising.

You MAY lose your female

You may have deformed pups that must be destroyed. Can you handle that?

You must have adequate facilities. Pups can be noisy, dirty and destructive. You will have tons of dirty newspapers to dispose of and possible problems with your neighbors. Pups are not always easy to sell. You may end up keeping some of them for many months. Are you prepared to housetrain several pups? Do you have the space? Pups must have lots of INDIVIDUAL attention if they are to grow up properly.

YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DOGS YOU
BREED!!
Do you know enough to be able to help your buyers with their problems? Will you be able to take back pups that don't work out?

Champions in the pedigree do not mean your dog is of breeding quality. Even two champions produce mostly pet quality offspring, and pet quality dogs should not be bred from.

AKC registration is no guarantee of quality and NOT a reason to breed - AKC registration only means your dogs is purebred - it has nothing to do with the quality of the dog.
