This handsome boy brought a touch of puckish humor to the more serious Irish Wolfhounds he shared his life with. Maybe he knew his time would be short and he would need to make the most of what he had.
Sunny caught lepto playing and swimming in the mountains of Tennessee. Normal this isn't a serious problem ina healthy dog. Unfortunately this was a rare type of lepto that attacked his kidneys. Given a few months to live, Sunny defied the odds to spend a year with his beloved Dave.

Subject: Please raise a glass
in honour of our Irish Lad.
We are celebrating a life lived well, ever short, but with more joy than most would experience if given several life times.
We could feel cheated, bitter and robbed of years of enjoyment but this would go against everything Sunny has taught us about living life to he
fullest. He has always been happy, cheerful, willing to try anything. We fear waiting too long as we don't want him to suffer. We have watched him closely and feel he is telling us he is ready to go. So, Monday morning we will be taking our last ride to Sunny's favorite vet. She has everything ready to take whatever tissue samples are necessary to try to determine once and for all answers to what happened to make Sunny sick. Then we will bring him home and give him a proper burial here at Riversong.
Deborah and Helen, his breeders, have supported us in every way thru their own shock and anguish at his diagnosis. The Irish Water Spaniel *family* extended their friendship and warmth to us in a remarkable way - they are a tribute to their chosen breed and do them proud! Our Irish Wolfhound friends have also supported us and have been entertained by the curly boy on their visits here. We thank you all.
I will forever remember Sunny as the mischievous clown who opened two sets of doors in the house to let loose all the hounds, not once but twice, before we could get the door knobs changed! I swear he was laughing at us as we tried to round everyone up.
So please raise a glass and help us celebrate this weekend, remember him as a little pup, full of life, love and a great sense of humor, who is once again going to open the door, this time to loose his spirit.
He's a party boy and would frown at tears during a celebration so I won't cry until he's gone....
